Monday December 18th

Today we went to the village called Zła Wieś (Bad Village) nearby Toruń. This was our last children's outreach this December. In the local cultural house gathered nearly 150 children plus some adults. Like previous similar meetings we presented program with songs, Bible quiz and short film about Jesus birth. We were glad to see joyful smiles on children's faces. For us to be in such a place was unusual event due to suspiciousness towards those who are from an Evangelical Church. We believe that the ice melted and some time in future we can come again and share the gospel in this place. We learn how important is the prayer to bring our weaknesses to God who can empower us for his ministry. Thank you all who prayed for us and these three Christmas outreaches, may the seed bring the fruit in its time. The truth is: a kernel of wheat must be planted in the soil... (John 12:24) Dzisiaj po raz trzeci w tym miesiącu zbór toruński zorganizował spotkanie dla dzieci z cyklu "Gwiazdkowa Niespodzianka". Tym razem udaliśmy się do gminy Zła Wieś, aby w miejscowym Domu Kultury przedstawić dzieciom i ich rodzicom w prosty sposób ewangelię zaczynającą się od narodzenia Pana Jezusa Chrystusa. Wspólnie spędzony czas upłynął w miłej atmosferze. Spotkaliśmy się z ciepłym przyjęciem. Cieszyliśmy się bardzo, widząc radość w oczach dzieci z otrzymanych prezentów. Najbardziej cieszymy się, że po raz pierwszy (jak sądzimy) mogliśmy w miejscowym ośrodku zasiać trochę Słowa Bożego w serca słuchaczy ufając, że w stosownym czasie ziarno to obumrze, aby przynieść obfity owoc (Ew. Jana 12:24)

Saturday December 16th

On this day church in Toruń organized second outreach for children in small village called Mazowsze, about 30 kilometers from Torun. Nearby this village lives one our church families; Janusz & Zosia with daugthers Karolina and Iza. Some time ago they went to see school master with a proposition to come and share Christmas message and do a shoe boxes distribution. This offer was accepted and we had another possiblity to share in a simple way the message why Christ was born. This part was lead well by Michał. Pola and Basia were accompaying him in singing. In addition to children's gifts we were additing Christian literature to be read by the whole family. We praise God that the door for sharing the good news was open in this village. Please pray for church family who live there that God may use them for His glory. To live as Evangelical Christians in a small place like that in Polish cicumstances is not an easy way, but we know that through Him we may overcome all obstacles. After the meeting we got "warm thanks" from school master.

Wczoraj grupą zborową pojechaliśmy do miejscowości Mazowsze 30km od Torunia. Członkowie zboru Janusz, Zosia, Karolina i Iza mieszkają niedaleko tego miejsca. Zosia zorganizowała w miejscowej szkole spotkanie dla dzieci. W miesiącu grudniu była to już druga okazja aby przeprowadzić spotkanie w ramach "Gwiazdkowa Niespodzianka" W prosty sposób poselstwo o narodzeniu Pana Jezusa było zwiastowane dla najmłodszych i ich rodziców. W roli tej wystąpili: Michał, Basia i Pola. Do paczek dodawaliśmy dobrą literaturę do czytania dla całej rodziny. Miło było widzieć radosne twarze dzieci i mile zaskoczonych rodziców oraz nauczycieli. Gorące podziękowanie dyrektor szkoły było dla nas sygnałem jak udane i potrzebne było to spotkanie w tym miejscu. Pozostańcie z nami w modlitwach aby owoc ewangelii mógł być widoczny w swoim czasie. W najbliższy poniedziałek jedziemy do gminy Zła Wieś (30km od Torunia), aby kolejnej grupie 150 dzieci usłużyć słowem, pieśnią, paczkami.

Sunday December 10th

Dear praying friends
Today at the church at 3.00pm we organized first Christmas outreach this season. We invited 150 children mainly from poor families. First hour we showed them a program including songs, games and Christmas story told by Michal. Two hours passed by so quickly like in a family. We are so glad that we could serve to the youngest ones. This time "shoe boxes" we got from Christian organization "Samaritan Purse" from Germany and also from believers in the church from Barendrecht in Holland. Three men from this city led by Paul Verkade brought them this weekend to Torun. We as a church did also our own "shoe boxes" for Christmas events. Each child left a meeting with the appropriate brochure entitled "Christmas: Meet the Cast" provided by Christian organization Lifewords. Today was a long day for all of us, but a very blessed one. At the morning service we heard about Mary and her character from Luke chapter one. We can learn a lot from her faith towards her Saviour Jesus Christ. Next Saturday and Monday we lead two more meetings in outlaying villages, each one also for 150 children, so please remain with us in prayers.

Drodzy przyjaciele,
W niedzielę 10-go grudnia rozpoczęliśmy w zborze cykl spotkań "Gwiazdkowa Niespodzianka" W tym roku zaplanowaliśmy kilka spotkań w różnych miejscach. Dzisiaj odbyło się pierwsze z nich. Do zboru zaprosiliśmy 150 dzieci. Pierwszą godzinę spotkania wypełniły nam pieśni, zabawy oraz opowiedziana przez Michała historia narodzenia Pana Jezusa Chrustusa. Atmosfera jak w rodzinie. Cieszymy się z możliwości, że po raz kolejny mogliśmy usłużyć najmniejszym w Toruniu. Każde dziecko dostało też broszurę "Znana Historia" nawiązującą do wydarzeń sprzed 2000 lat gdy narodził się w Betlejemie Jezus Chrystus. W broszurę zaopatrzyła nas Fundacja Lifewords mająca siedzibę w Toruniu. W następną sobotę i poniedziałek przygotowujemy dwa kolejne spotkania (każde dla 150 dzieci) tym razem w okolicznych miejscowościach - Mazowsze i Zła Wieś.

CHRISTMAS LOVE

(Paraphrase of 1 Corinthians chapter 13)

If I decorate my house perfectly with plaid bows, strands of twinkling lights and shiny balls, but do not show LOVE to my family, I’m just another decorator.

If I slave away in the Kitchen, baking dozens of Christmas cookies, preparing gourmet meals and arranging a beautifully adorned table at mealtime, but do not show LOVE to my family, I’m just another cook.

If I work at the soup kitchen, carol singing in the nursing home and give all that I have to charity, but don’t show LOVE to my family, it profits me nothing.

If I trim the spruce with shimmering angels and crocheted snowflakes, attend a myriad of holiday parties and sing in the choir’s cantata but do not focus on Christ, I have missed the point.

LOVE stops the cooking to hug the child.

LOVE sets aside the decorating to kiss the spouse.

LOVE is kind, though harried and tired.

LOVE doesn’t envy another’s home that has coordinated Christmas china and table linens.

LOVE doesn’t yell at the kids to get out of the way.

LOVE doesn’t give only to those who are able to give in return but rejoices in giving to those who can’t.

LOVE bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things.

LOVE never fails. Video games will break, pearl necklaces will be lost, golf clubs will rust, the gift of LOVE will endure.

JESUS – The ultimate gift of LOVE.

Preparations for Christmas outreach in Torun

On Thursday November 30th volunteers from our church were unloading a big truck full of shoe boxes. Each year before Christmas premises in our church are used as a storage. Next week people from other churches in outlaying areas will come and take parcels for their local distributions. The church in Torun for 6 years have been involved in shoe boxes distribution. This year we plan to organize several smaller meetings (each one will gather about 150 children) in outlaying areas of Torun. We will go to villages in a range of about 30 kilometers. Shoe boxes distribution is a good opportunity to share in a simple way the Gospel of Jesus Christ who was born and died for our sins that we through faith in Him might be saved. So please pray again for our four meetings where God's Word will be preached, songs will be sung, Christian literature will be distributed. The first children's meeting (150 children) will take place in the church on Sunday December 10th

W czwartek 30-go listopada woluntariusze ze zboru rozładowali kontener pełny paczek świątecznych. Wiekszość z nich będzie przeznaczona dla innych zborów w najbliższych województwach. Podobnie jak co roku służymy pomieszczeniami jako magazyn dla akcji "Gwiazdkowa Niespodzianka". Za dwa tygodnie nie będzie po nich ani śladu, znajdą się w domach blisko 7000 dzieci. Zbór toruński też będzie zaangażowany w zorganizowanie 3-4 spotkań (każde ok. 150 dzieci) w okolicach Torunia. Tym razem wyjedziemy do małych miejscowości. Na spotkaniach będziemy zwiastować ewangelię o narodzeniu i śmierci naszego Pana Jezusa dla naszego zbawienia. Prosimy was o modlitwy: za organizatorów i tych którzy mają przyjść na spotkania.
Pierwsze spotkanie będzie w niedzielę 10-go grudnia dla 150 dzieci w kaplicy zboru.
